Grilled Pound Cake with Dulce de Leche

1 Store bought loaf of pound cake (preferably pre-cut)

Spreadable butter

1 Can sweetened condensed milk

Serves:  6 – 8

Remove label off can of condensed milk.

In medium size pot add can ON ITS SIDE and then enough ROOM TEMPERTURE water to cover can (about 2” above can AND SHOULD NOW ALWAYS REMAIN SUBMERGED).

Bring water to boil; then lower to a simmer for 3 hours.

IMPORTANT: Maintain water level by adding additional boiling water about every 30 minutes (failure to do so can cause can to explode)!

Remove can with tongs from pot and let cool down to room temperature before handling. DO NOT OPEN UNTIL COOLED!IMG_6946.1

Once cool enough to handle open can and scoop out the dulce de leche into a mason or glass jar.

Spread a thin layer of spreadable butter on both sides of pound cake.

Preheat grill to medium, add one layer of aluminum foil, then with a spatula gently put on pound cake for approximately 1 – 2 minutes per side depending on the amount of char you prefer.

Take pound cake off grill and immediately drizzle dulce de leche mixture on top.

IMPORTANT: Store unused dulce de leche in refrigerator.IMG_6950.1

Drizzle dulce de leche mixture on bite-sized peaches or bananas or over vanilla ice cream or simply plain on a spoon.

Use a grill pan on the stove or an indoor electric grill.
