Pinterest inspires me because…

Do you like pretty pictures?  Do you like to be inspired?  Well so do I, which is why I joined Pinterest.  I am grateful you can look without joining, just click the link below and browse my boards.  Boards are categories that the Pinner sets up and names (most of my boards deal with party topics of course).  The boards then help the Pinner organize items (place items on their specific boards).  It is that easy and then you have your own library of inspiration.  Nice feature to note: secret boards, so you can pin stuff there without anyone else knowing (great for surprise parties). It is nice to share original content on Pinterest, but not ...

Fall 2013

Who cares if they show/RSVP or not?  I do! I would not have sent you an invite if I didn’t want to you show, so yes I care.  I’m not sure if I’m in a minority or majority on this issue, but a guest list is a thought out process and sometimes a cost issue as well.As a receiver of an invite & the expectation from the sender for an RSVP from me (the term ‘R.S.V.P.’ is a French phrase that stands for “répondez, s’il vous plaît,” which means “please reply”), I believe we have a responsibility to reply accordingly and it is a responsibility not to be taken lightly. With all types of ways to communicate with others these ...

Summer 2013

Summertime; what is there not to like? Ok maybe the mosquitoes and Japanese beetles, but not much else brings my summer mood down.
Summertime is a great time to get together and party with others. However, I have a few ideas to inspire you to help make your guests feel welcome and cool. •    Even if you have an air conditioner running, still run several fans to help circulate the air. •    If the ice is melting in coolers & keeping drinks cold is an issue, partially freeze some drinks in plastic containers before placing in coolers. •    If entertaining is something you do often in the summer, I would recommend investing in a ...

Winter 2012

The most festive party season of all year has to be in December.  The pressure is on from all angles: shopping, hosting, and attending parties.  As our country has had to deal with some recent tragedies, the economy is still tough on most, lets all remember that less is sometimes more. I recently attended a party, that over the past years has had lots of food, people, noise, etc.  However, this year circumstances have made it more intimate with less of everything and all I can say is it was a wonderful party!  I didn’t over-eat or drink and I had the opportunity to have nice conversations with the few guests that were there. Don’t get me ...

Fall 2012

The fall season is starting its annual shift to bring in the crisp fall air.  The casual home bbq’s are coming to an end and in comes the bonfire to keep us warm on the chilly nights.  Bonfires parties are a wonderful easy way to entertain at your home.  With so many portable fire pits available in stores, there is no excuse (ok maybe a few…if you live in a high rise, condo, or apartment complex).  Bonfire parties can be elaborate with a complete meal or as simple as marshmallows and drinks.  The low-key bonfire allows you to invite guests just a day or hours from starting time.  So no excuses!  Email, text, or call a close neighbor/friend ...

Summer 2012

It is the start of summer and all the possibilities it has in store for entertaining.  The delicate warm mornings are a wonderful time to sit outside and have breakfast with the ones closest to you.  My favorite is fresh squeezed orange juice that shares a glass with some champagne; this is how a majority of champagne gets finished in my house. Breakfast is also a wonderful time for either planning the rest of the weekend plans, the upcoming week, or starting bigger plans.  So get the eggs scrambling, the coffee brewing, the meat sizzling, the bread warmed, and the ideas flowing for what kind of entertaining party you want to host this summer at ...
